The Mythical Origin of Pushkar

According to Hindu mythology, Pushkar was created when the god Brahma defeated the demon Vajra Nabh by throwing a lotus flower at him. Three petals of the flower fell to the Earth, creating the three sacred lakes of Pushkar.
