History of Vellore

Vellore, in Tamil Nadu, owes much of its historical importance to the construction of its fort in the 14th century AD, which was built to protect the city during the Carnatic Wars. The Jalakanteshwarar Temple and Elagiri Lake have also added to Vellore's appeal among visitors.
